Tokyo Localized Tour Video
When I first started doing video production in Tokyo, one of my earliest projects was with Tokyo Localized. Back then, I made a short video to promote their free walking tour. We’ve worked together a few times since then, and I was delighted when the owner, Dai, recently got in touch about creating a promotional video for their new tuna cutting experience tour.
The goal of the video was to capture the artistry of the chef, the guest experience, and of course, the all-you-can-eat fresh tuna and sake available on the tour.
Filming in environments like this can be difficult, as you have no control over the lighting or action. Rather than a typical commercial filming, it’s much more akin to event videography or documentary filming in that the happenings are largely unplanned and can’t be easily repeated.
After filming the tour, I edited three promotional videos of Tokyo Localized. The video found above, a shorter social media cut for Facebook and LinkedIn, and a vertical cut for social media reels. If the video left you feeling hungry, be sure to sign up for the tour! It’s a truly unique Japanese experience and not something you’re likely to find anywhere else in Tokyo.
